MANILA, Philippines — A police, who is also a registered midwife, assisted a woman in giving birth to a healthy baby boy in Catanduanes province on Sunday amid the onslaught of Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi).
In photos shared by the Philippine National Police (PNP), an unnamed police officer responded to a resident’s call for assistance in Barangay Datag in San Andres town.
Article continues after this advertisement“Both mother and baby are now safe and were transported to the hospital with support from the MDRRMO (Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office),” PNP said.

On the other hand, PNP said its personnel in the Bicol Region continue to assist with the clearing operations in areas affected by Pepito.

The typhoon is moving 25 kilometers per hour (km/h), carrying maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h and gusts of up to 255 km/h.
Pepito is expected to exit the Philippine area of Responsibility on Monday morning or noon.
