MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has mobilized 1,137 personnel to respond immediately and assist residents affected by Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) in Metro Manila.

In a statement on Sunday evening, the NCRPO said it reinforced its disaster preparedness measures amid Pepito.

“To ensure swift and efficient operations, 773 mobility assets are ready for any eventualities the typhoon will cause. Twenty-six trucks are on standby for search and rescue operations and relief and evacuation operations, and 747 patrol cars, motorcycles, and other mobility assets are now utilized for law and order,” police assured the public.

“These vehicles are strategically positioned to facilitate transport, logistics, and emergency response. Five rubber boats are also prepared to assist in flood-prone areas and support rescue operations during critical situations,” it added.

Moreover, NCRPO said that its command centers coordinate with local government units and disaster response agencies to deliver its assistance.

It also encouraged the public to use its Philippine National Police-Law Enforcement Reporting and Information System for immediate assistance.

Pepito was last spotted over the coastal waters of San Fernando, La Union, according to the state weather bureau.

The typhoon is moving 25 kilometers per hour (km/h), carrying maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h and gusts of up to 255 km/h.

Pepito is expected to exit the Philippine area of Responsibility on Monday morning or noon.
